Costa Dr. H. Costa received his medical degree from the University of Panama, School of Medicine in 1990. He completed his Internship at Hospital Santo Tomas and Hospital del Nino and at The Integrated Health System of Darien in Panama City. After spending several years as General Medical Officer at Azuero Medical Center and for the United States Army Joint Task Force at Safe Haven Camp, he moved to Brooklyn, New York where he completed his Residency program at Woodhull Medical and Mental Center. Dr. Costa completed a two year Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Fellowship at Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn in 2002. Dr. Costa then returned to Panama where he worked at a private practice from December 2002 until August 2006, when he moved to McAllen and joined McAllen Pediatric Associates.

Dr. Costa is a member of the American Board of Pediatrics, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and the North-American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. In 2002, he received the Physician’s Recognition Award from the American Medical Association and was listed by the Consumer’s Research Counsel of America’s publication “Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians.” Over the years, Dr. Costa has made numerous presentations on topics such as “Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy,” “Gastroesophaegal Reflux in Infants,” and “Liver Abscess in Children.” He has also had some of his work published in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and e-Medicine Journal.
